Completed MBBS from Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack in 1979; MD from Veer Surendra Sai Medical College, Burla in 1983; and DM in Cardiology from SCB Medical College in 1990. Later recognised with FACC and SCAI credentials — laying the full academic foundation for clinical, interventional, pediatric and electrophysiological cardiology.

Began his professional career simultaneously as an educator and clinician at Veer Surendra Sai Medical College, Burla — one of western Odisha's key medical institutions. For six years, he taught the next generation of physicians while building his clinical practice, establishing the habit of parallel excellence in teaching and patient care that would characterise the rest of his career.

Joined SSSIHMS in 1996, inspired by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's mission of free tertiary care for the poorest. After the Whitefield super-speciality hospital inauguration in 2001, he took responsibility as Head of Cardiology and served the mission for 23 years. He performed more than 22,000 Balloon Mitral Valvotomy procedures and a similar volume of pediatric device closures for ASD, VSD and PDA. He was entrusted with pacemaker implantation for Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Five gold medalist cardiology students emerged under his mentorship. He received the Excellent Contribution Award from CSI Bangalore Chapter in 2019.

Returned to Odisha as Director of Cardiology and CTVS on 16 December 2019, helping build a cardiac centre of excellence for angiography, device closure and electrophysiology. He has performed 7,500+ cath-lab procedures and more than 1,20,000 outpatient consultations with transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, reducing outside-state referral to almost negligible levels. He works from about 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on working days, completing difficult procedures even without standby cardiac surgical facilities, and leads DEIC–RBSK pediatric screening including dedicated Saturday consultations.

Since 2020, Dr. Dash has visited Hi-Tech Medical College & Hospital every evening to provide consultation and treatment as Professor and Director of the Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac Science — extending both patient care and academic contribution beyond government hospital hours.
